What are you up to G.W.?

So with the Republicans about-face on the Offshore Drilling policy earlier this week, it leaves me wondering as to what the real reason is. After all this is a HUGE policy shift after years and years of being vehemently opposed to it. They continue to claim that it has nothing to do with the current oil economy, as it won’t really affect the price of gas at the pump. So why the big shift all of a sudden? What is the real reason behind this move? And why all of a sudden are we seeing different political moves with the Iranian government than in the past 20-30 years? Something must be going on…
An interesting perspective is provided by Brig. Gen. USAF (Retired) James Cash in a blog post from this past April. In his comments he suggests that if Iran assumes a more dominant role in the Middle East power struggle, now that Iraq is neutralized, that they will eventually gain control of all the oil in the Middle East. He conjectures that if that were the case, we can forget the idea of gas at any price because we won’t have any. This, in effect, would decimate the US Economy.
After reading this and seeing the events unfolding during the past couple weeks, it seems like this scenario, as scary as it sounds, could be very likely. The people of this country need to stand up and demand independence from Mid-East oil. We need drastic action as soon as we can to start the process.
If events unfold similar to Jim Cash’s expectation and our economy is destroyed due to an OPEC oil embargo, all the tree hugging nature lovers who are again trying to block our own domestic oil production offshore can be excluded from the government food stamp distribution.
