Recovering lost data

So, having sent our failed hard drive off to the Data Recovery Group in Northbrook, IL to try and recover the data, after a couple weeks we were finally told that there was no recoverable data. The official excuse was that the head hit the platters which pretty much negates any chance of recovery. They had to open the drive in their clean room and replace the damaged head which still did not help. I asked a few questions and the response I got just didn’t add up in my mind. I was sure that they just didn’t have the necessary tools or expertise to get the job done. So I decided we had to get a second opinion. Read more »
