Anyone who commutes or spends much time on the road like I do knows what I am talking about. There are all kinds of funny things to see on the road. From signs and billboards to bumper stickers and advertising on vehicles. Over the years, there have been too many I have forgotten about. So what better way to Read more »

Passing the CCIE Lab Exam

2:47pm Thursday, July 7th, 2005 by Rolande

Of all the things I have accomplished so far in life, without any doubt, this by far is the hardest thing I have ever done. I think if I combined all the effort and hard work I put in during all the time I was in college, plus 4 years of high school, it would barely come close to what it took to pass this exam. So I finally did it. Welcome!

12:45pm Wednesday, July 6th, 2005 by Rolande

Welcome to my brand new Weblog!

By creating this Blog, I have now officially renewed my geek club membership after being on hiatus for the last couple months. I finally passed the CCIE Routing & Switching lab exam (undeniable proof of Uber-Geekdom) after studying non-stop for the past year and a half. So, I tried very hard not to do anything geeky for the last couple months. I enjoyed having nothing to do in my spare time and having all the stress lifted off my shoulders. Powering off my lab rack and shelving my Cisco Press books was such a great moment but at the same time I felt like I was losing a good friend. It was weird to get used to not studying for the first 2 or 3 weeks. My kids and wife started to remember who I was; I started in on the long list of tasks that had been neglected for 2 years; and we finally started to have a social life again and take the kids to do things together as a family.

Okay, so now I have had enough of pretending to be normal and not touching a computer outside of the office. Back to being a geek again… So, without further ado, I intend to post here somewhat regularly about life, family, work & technology etc. from my perspective. If I get too technical, I don’t apologize. ;) That is who I am.
